A true queen of urban fantasy and the New York Times bestselling author of the Hollows series featuring bounty-hunting witch turned day-walking demon Rachel Morgan, the phenomenal Kim Harrison explores the world of her wildly popular series more deeply than ever before with Into the Woods, her first collection of short stories. Rachel is here, as are Jenks the pixie, elven tycoon Trent Kalamack, and an unholy host of vampires, demons, shapeshifters, ghosts, and other assorted supernatural beings, both friends and foes.

Into the Woods combines original work, including a new Hollows novella, with all of Kim Harrison's previously published short fiction, which is gathered together in one volume for the very first time. No true Hollows aficionado will want to pass this up—and readers of Laurell K. Hamilton, Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs, and Jim Butcher and fans of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight novels and of paranormal romance superstars Christine Feehan and Sherrilyn Kenyon will be likewise enchanted.

Harrison's Hollows series remains one of the more solid and satisfying islands in the current sea of novels involving vampires, demons, and werewolves. Hollows fans will be enthralled by the first half of this short story collection, which offers glimpses of history and new insights into many familiar characters, including demon Algaliarept, vampire Ivy Tamwood, and Jenks the pixie; first-time readers will find the stories an accessible and intriguing introduction to the series. The second half of the book goes outside of the Hollows to introduce other fantasy creatures with Harrison's unique spin, such as the dryads who Will Temson inadvertently inherits in "Temson Estates" and the angry tree spirit with whom grandmother Emily, mother Meg, and child Lilly must come to terms in "Spider Silk." Harrison's talent for making supernaturals understandable, likable, and engaging is amply demonstrated in this strong collection. Agent: Richard Curtis, Richard Curtis Associates.
